Valentine Mitts

Crochet something soft and sweet for your valentine!
These fingerless gloves are perfect for keeping little hands cozy when they need their fingers free. Follow the free pattern to make this pretty pair available in three sizes, toddler to teen.

Size: Small (Toddler), Medium (Child), Large (Teen)

Stitch Knowledge: ch (chain), sc (single crochet), hdc (half double crochet)

Materials List: 
Worsted Weight Acrylic Yarn
Size U.S. K/101/2 (6.50mm) Hook
Scissors and Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker

Note: Pattern is worked in spiral rounds. Do not join and do not turn. Mark the first stitch of each round with a removable stitch marker. Move the stitch marker up as each round is completed.

Valentine Mitts (Make two)

Small (Toddler)

Starting out: Ch 14. Join with a slip stitch to the first chain being careful not to twist.

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). Work 1 sc into same stitch as join. Continue working 1 sc into each stitch around. (14sc)
Rnd 2: Work 1 hdc into each stitch around. (14hdc)
Rnd 3: Repeat Rnd 2.
Rnd 4: Work 1 hdc into the next 13 stitches. Ch 4, work 1 hdc into the next stitch. (14hdc)
Rnd 5: Work 1 hdc into the next 13 stitches. Work 4 hdc around the ch4 loop. Work 1 hdc into the last stitch. (18hdc)
Rnd 6: Work 1 hdc into the next 12 stitches. Then work hdc2tog 3 times. (15hdc)
Rnd 7: Work hdc2tog, 1 hdc into the next 4 stitches, hdc2tog, 1 hdc into the next 5 stitches, hdc2tog. (12hdc)
Rnd 8: Work 1 hdc into each stitch around. (12hdc)
Rnd 9-11: Repeat Rnd 8.
Rnd 12: Work 1 sc into each stitch around. Slip stitch into the next stitch to join round. (12sc)

Tie off. Weave in ends. Laying flat your finished mitts will measure 4.75 inches long and 3 inches wide at the widest point (edge to thumb).

Medium (Child)

Starting out: Ch 16. Join with a slip stitch to the first chain being careful not to twist.

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). Work 1 sc into same stitch as join. Continue working 1 sc into each stitch around. (16sc)
Rnd 2: Work 1 hdc into each stitch around. (16hdc)
Rnd 3-4: Repeat Rnd 2.
Rnd 5: Work 1 hdc into the next 15 stitches. Ch 4, work 1 hdc into the next stitch. (16hdc)
Rnd 6: Work 1 hdc into the next 15 stitches. Work 4 hdc around the ch4 loop. Work 1 hdc into the last stitch. (20hdc)
Rnd 7: Work 1 hdc into the next 14 stitches. Then work hdc2tog 3 times. (17hdc)
Rnd 8: Work hdc2tog, 1 hdc into the next 5 stitches, hdc2tog, 1 hdc into the next 6 stitches, hdc2tog. (14hdc)
Rnd 9: Work 1 hdc into each stitch around. (14hdc)
Rnd 10-13: Repeat Rnd 9.
Rnd 14: Work 1 sc into each stitch around. Slip stitch into the next stitch to join round. (14sc)

Tie off. Weave in ends. Laying flat your finished mitts will measure 5.25 inches long and 3.25 inches wide at the widest point (edge to thumb).

Large (Teen)

Starting out: Ch 18. Join with a slip stitch to the first chain being careful not to twist.

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). Work 1 sc into same stitch as join. Continue working 1 sc into each stitch around. (18sc)
Rnd 2: Work 1 hdc into each stitch around. (18hdc)
Rnd 3-5: Repeat Rnd 2.
Rnd 6: Work 1 hdc into the next 17 stitches. Ch 4, work 1 hdc into the next stitch. (18hdc)
Rnd 7: Work 1 hdc into the next 17 stitches. Work 4 hdc around the ch4 loop. Work 1 hdc into the last stitch. (22hdc)
Rnd 8: Work 1 hdc into the next 16 stitches. Then work hdc2tog 3 times. (19hdc)
Rnd 9: Work hdc2tog, 1 hdc into the next 6 stitches, hdc2tog, 1 hdc into the next 7 stitches, hdc2tog. (16hdc)
Rnd 10: Work 1 hdc into each stitch around. (16hdc)
Rnd 11-15: Repeat Rnd 10.
Rnd 16: Work 1 sc into each stitch around. Slip stitch into the next stitch to join round. (16sc)

Tie off. Weave in ends. Laying flat your finished mitts will measure 6.25 inches long and 3.75 inches wide at the widest point (edge to thumb).

Teeny One Round Heart
(A teeny version of the Simple Crochet Heart at Flower Girl Cottage.)

Stitch Knowledge: ch (chain), sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet)

Materials List: 
Worsted Weight Acrylic Yarn
Size U.S. 4.00mm (G) Hook
Scissors and Tapestry Needle

Starting out: Make an adjustable loop.

Ch2. Work 4 sc, 1 dc, 4 sc into the loop. Ch2, then slip stitch into the loop. Tie off and pull the loop tight. With loose ends sew the heart onto the mitt.
