Pom Pom Headband

All last week I was thinking red, white and blue.
So I dug through my stash...
And a few hours later...
Pom Pom Headbands!
A perfectly patriotic accessory for July 4th.
So simple you could whip one up before tonight's celebration.

You will need:
Yarn
Scissors
Glue Gun
Crochet Hook (any size will do)
Tapestry Needle
Headband
Button (optional)

Step 1: Make a large pom pom. If you're not sure how to make a pom pom follow this tutorial. Cut a piece of yarn about 12 inches long to tie off. Cut all of your loops but DO NOT CUT THE STRINGS YOU USED TO TIE OFF YOUR POM POM. You will need them later to attach the pom pom to the headband. Trim around your pom pom until it's perfectly poofed just how you like it.

Step 2: Crochet a circle. Work in rounds. Do not join, do not turn.
Starting out ch2.
Rnd 1:Work 6 sc in the first ch stitch. (6sc)
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc of the last round. (12sc)
Rnd 3: {Work 1 sc in next sc, then 2 sc in next sc.} Repeat between {} around. (18sc)
Rnd 4: {Work 1 sc in next 2 sc, then 2sc in next sc.} Repeat between {} around. (24sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Step 3: Tie the pom pom securely onto the headband in the desired location. Then hot glue your crocheted circle to the bottom of the headband and the pom pom. Fluff and add a decorative button with a little hot glue if you like. And your pom pom headband is ready to go.
Wishing you all a safe and happy 4th of July!
